The
is a digital output (DO) module (SM 322) featuring eight relay outputs designed for switching a wide range of AC and DC industrial loads. It provides electrical isolation between channels and the backplane bus for enhanced protection.
- Function: The module converts the PLC’s internal digital signals into robust external electrical signals capable of controlling various field devices such as AC/DC solenoid valves, contactors, motor starters, and indicator lights.
- Relay Outputs: Unlike solid-state outputs, these relay outputs can handle both AC (up to 230V) and DC (up to 120V) load voltages with a high current rating of up to 5 A per channel.
- Isolation: It provides electrical isolation between the channels (in groups of 1) and between the channels and the backplane bus, which prevents electrical disturbances from affecting the control system.
- Protection: An integrated RC filter (snubber) or an optional jumper (SJ) can be inserted to protect the contacts from overvoltage spikes caused by switching inductive loads, thus extending their operational lifespan.
- Diagnostics: The module includes channel-specific green status LEDs and a red group error (SF) LED for visual diagnostics, as well as programmable diagnostic interrupts
